September 30 – Kalorama Street House (ONP #273)
Welcome to this beautiful five-story turn-of-the-century row house on Kalorama Street NW in my neighborhood (Adams Morgan, DC). These beauties line the streets here; I walk by them all the time, daydreaming about the insides. Today, I got a chance to visit this house and enjoy a top-to-bottom personal tour from my friend R who used to live here and is still good friends with the owners.
I’ll let the pictures do the talking, since the house is chock-full of too many beautiful things to describe. The best part of the tour was that, since R lived here for so long and knew so much about the house, he was able to regale me with stories of how all the furnishings came together piece by piece, hauled from antique hardware and architectural shops, a mixture of serendipity and design.
Enjoy the pictures! (Oh, and notice the view of the Washington Monument from the 5th-story loft window!)
