Sept 23 – Hotel Palomar (ONP #266)

Rainy, rainy. soaking day here in Washington DC—not appealing weather to go exploring in!  On top of that, I had a to-do list the length of my leg, also a demotivating factor, and a really bum foot today. I was NOT feeling like a happy explorer.

But I took advantage of being down in the Dupont Circle neighborhood to go a little out of my usual way (I turned left instead of right) and trudged through the rain down the block to this hotel, which seemed like an easy place to go inside.

I think this hotel has been in the neighborhood a while, although I never paid it any attention before this project. Honestly, I  found it all a little ho-hum (What’s with the weird Bennington-esque mural? And don’t get me started on those things that looked like giant buttons (frisbees? eyeballs?) plastered to the wall).

But it was a new place, a dry place, a fairly easy place, and it got the job done–so my project survived yet another day when I might have easily convinced myself to throw in the towel. Some days are just like that, I guess. It can’t all be a highlight reel.
