October 1 – Melvin Hazen Trail (ONP #272)
We strapped on our hiking gear and got out in the woods today, now that it’s October and the weather is turning a little bit.
I have often heard tell of this Melvin Hazen Trail, but never knew exactly where it was until a couple of months ago, on another One New Place exploration, when I found the trailhead. So today we decided to pop in here and explore for our afternoon walk.

Swampy areas, a pretty little creek, a water fall into greenish-colored lagoon, a mud pit with wood bridge over it, ash trees, squirrels, the sound of rush hour traffic on Reno Road never far away. . . That’s some of the things we discovered on this little trail.
