June 19 – Oak Alley, Hamburg PA (ONP #169)

Here in my hometown, where New Places are scarce, I got in the car and just drove toward a potential destination. On the way, I saw a road I was pretty sure I had never been on before, Diamond Drive, so I turned left and then again left onto a little ally that I know I had never been on before. Yay! A New Place! (And I double-checked with my mom when I got home, to make sure I had not been carted here as an infant for any reason. She confirmed that I was not.)

So I strolled along this pretty, picturesque ally–part small town, part country lane, photographing the sheds, the gardens, the big red barn, the abandoned bus, the setting light in the willow trees, I wondered how I would explain to the people in their yards if they asked me why I was walking in their ally photographing their sheds, their gardens, their big red barn, the abandoned bus, the setting light in the willow trees. Luckily, nobody did.
