July 16 – Thornton Place NW (ONP #197)

Poor little, inauspicious Thornton Place NW. It’s barely noticeable (even it’s street sign is camouflauged) between its swankier connecting streets, Wyoming and Kalorama streets. Only a scant block long, it doesn’t even have an address to claim as its own—only overflow (the sides and backs of properties) from it’s tony neighbors.

But I was glad to find little Thornton Place. There are not too many new streets for me to explore within my walking range, so when I spotted Thornton Place on a map, I hoped it would work out.

It turned out to be a fun walk–right at the end of my range, and although only Thornton Place was brand new to me, we don’t often in the Kalorama neighborhood, so it was fun to scope out the embassies (Benin and Algeria), and also to discover a few little boutique hotels tucked away in the neighborhood that could be new places for another day.
