August 15 – Alley off Linnean Terrace NW (ONP #227)
This is a different kind of DC alley. . . .

When I was in the Forest Hills neighborhood of DC on Monday, I glanced down an alley and was amazed at how un-alleylike it looked—more like a country lane than the DC alleys I am familiar with.
So when I had to make a return trip to Forest Hills today,
I decided to take a promenade through one of these here Forest-Hills alleys. It was so quiet! And green (even besides the trash cans). A Crepe Myrtle was in full bloom; A monarch butterfly disturbed the air.
If I weren’t doing this One New Place project, I might do a cultural analysis of DC alleys from one neighborhood to the next. . . Indeed, I would totally read that book if anybody is so inclined and has a little time on their hands.
