August 13 – Forest Hills/Broadbranch Terrace NW (ONP #225)
225 New Places seen in 225 consecutive days, since the start of 2018! I’m almost 2/3 of the way through the year and towards my goal!!
Today I was introduced to the Forest Hills neighborhood, in what I call the “deep Northwest” of DC. This neighborhood is tucked just between two main streets that I travel frequently (Connecticut Avenue and Broadbranch Road), but I have never had occasion to explore here before, so it was pretty much just a blank spot on the map to me until today.
I actually travelled on quiet a lot of new streets today (forced on a detour) to get to my destination here, but chose Broadbranch Terrace as my official New Place, as it was easy to park and walk, and there was a gorgeous and ginormous Crepe Myrtle tree to photograph.
Seemed a bit of a sleepy street. . . a new wall going up around a castle-esque home, a large 6-bedroom, 6 bathroom house for sale (I thought it was an apartment building it was so big). The alley I peeked down seemed more like a country road than an alley. No traffic passed me as I walked. I saw a butterfly. Big events on Broadbranch Terrace?
