July 7 – Frances Park, Pool & Dog Park (ONP # 188)
Today’s New Place continues our “Pools of DC” series, as well as our “Dog Parks of DC” series–a little something for everybody! In fact, as I was standing with Lola in the dusty dog prison, er . . .I mean park, begrudging the people lounging at the pool next door, I wondered if anybody would notice a little tan beagle left alone in the dog park while I slipped over to the pool for 20 minutes or so.
Noooo. . . I wouldn’t seriously do that!
Anyway, today’s new place took me to Foggy Bottom, and to places whose existences I have long heard about (pool, dog park) but never verified for myself. We made a nice walk of it—starting at a big grassy meadow I have seen often driven by (turns out it’s part of Rock Creek Park). Then we walked by some tennis courts, through a sports field, took a break at a puddle of purple picnic tables, watched some children playing at the playground, inspected the pool for future reference, and sucked up some dust at the dog park before we headed back to the car. A beautiful day, perfect weather, and if you count all these things separately, I saw at least five new places in this one outing!

May I get some extra credit, please?
