September 11 Columbia Heights Dog Park (ONP #254)

Throwing the dog a bone today, with another addition to our “Dog Parks of DC” mini-series. We traveled to the Columbia Heights neighborhood to visit this park at 11th and Park Street NW (“11th and Bark” I’ve heard it affectionately called by the dog contingent).

This dog park has everything a dog and its owner could want: colorful benches, trees, water bowls, a large play area, and a Metro pick-up truck parked right in the middle of it. Yup!  Not to mention, in a great example of urban multi-purposing, a large metro grate right in the middle of the park, with the sounds of the green/yellow line trains rumbling beneath us.

We were there on an off hour, so, didn’t see any other doggers, but this seems like a great little park that the neighborhood dog owners care about and are advocating for. We are doing as the sign requested: sending a photo of Lola enjoying the park to Mayor Muriel Bowser and the DC Council to say “thanks” for giving us this new place to explore!
