August 11 – Columbia Firehouse (ONP #223)
Crossed the river into Virginia this evening to meet friends at this restaurant in Old Town Alexandria for dinner. Old friends and a New Place: Can’t beat that for a winning combination! I travelled lots of new streets to get here too!
This place actually was the old fire station in turn-of-the-century Alexandria, with the date of its construction (1883) inscribed just above its beautiful arched front window. It had that awesome red brick exterior that looks both worn and strong at the same time, and original (I think) black shutters on the windows in the alley. It’s a popular restaurant, so the inside was a bit too crowded to get good pictures, but here are a few.

Hi! I’m Suzanne. I’ve committed to seeing One New Place every day for the year 2018! Join me and follow along with my daily adventures. Even better, try it for yourself–discover One New Place every day/week/month–whatever interval of time works for you!
